About the
Birmingham Concert
Community Band

Membership Info
The Birmingham Community Concert Band Association was founded in 1980. Its purpose is to promote the listening enjoyment of concert band music for the Greater Birmingham Area while providing local musicians an opportunity to get together to do what they love -- play their instruments. It currently sponsors two groups: the Birmingham Community Concert Band and the Birmingham Wind Ensemble. Both groups rehearse weekly and perform several concerts at various times and locations throughout the year. The membership boasts a very diverse group of instrumentalists of all ages, backgrounds, professions, and ability levels.
The Birmingham Community Concert Band meets every Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 in the band room in Hulsey Hall on the Campus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. It is under the direction of Harry McAfee during the Academic Year and Dr. Johnny Jacobs during the summer. Alan Brooks serves as substitute when needed.
The Birmingham Wind Ensemble meets on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the University of Alabama at Birmingham Band Room. This group is conducted by Jack Rudisell.
The membership is completely volunteer. The BCCB Association is registered as a 501 C-3 not for profit organization and welcomes tax deductible donations.
The Association expresses its deepest appreciation to the UAB band director, Dr. Gene Fambrough, and the Music Department of the University of Alabama at Birmingham for the generous support in allowing us to use the Band Room and equipment for our rehearsals.
Individuals interested in becoming a member of one or both of these groups may contact us or may visit at any rehearsal.
